Psychotherapy for adults, families, and groups in Austin, TX

  • You probably hear a lot of talk about what therapy is or isn’t.

People come to therapy to achieve mastery over their problems and to heal themselves. But there is so much noise out there in the way of your healing. Let’s cut through the noise together — you are unique and healing in therapy must be unique to you.

  • You probably want to heal but aren’t sure how.

If you’re here, I assume you are already highly motivated and intuitive about how to heal yourself. You will come to me with insight about how to solve your own problems, to rid yourself of symptoms, and to pursue important life goals such as a sense of well-being, a satisfying relationship, or a meaningful existence. My role is simply to strengthen your innate capacity to heal and to weaken whatever is getting in the way of healing.

  • You probably have more questions.

Just reach out! I am happy to schedule a free consultation or intake session with you. If we are not a good fit, I am committed to helping you find a therapist who is. Thank you for considering therapy with me.

Areas of Expertise

  • Chronic Illness

Being sick is hard enough. Dealing with our complicated health system can make it even harder. I understand—I live with autoimmune disease. I know how challenging it is to get help and real support. I won't treat you like a victim or make you doubt yourself. I'll understand your struggles and pain. I’ll trust your innate capacity to heal. I’ll help your mind make peace with your body. Most of all, I'll help you advocate for yourself when no one else will.

  • First-Timers

I empathize with first-time therapy-goers and those unsure about therapy's value. I know first-hand the struggle of finding a good fit in today's saturated and commercialized therapy market. I guide new therapy seekers through the mental health system to ensure they feel fully supported. I team up with psychiatrists, doctors, and others to help my clients thrive. If we aren’t a good fit, I am committed to helping you find a therapist who is.

  • Creatives & Athletes

Creativity and athleticism are important for wellbeing but may fade during mental health struggles. Rekindling creativity and physical activity can aid in recovery. I view therapy as a creative process and encourage my clients to do the same. I connect effectively with creative enthusiasts and engage in the arts in my personal life. I began my therapy career working with collegiate athletes at The University of Texas at Austin and am passionate about improving mental health within the athletic community.

  • Intergenerational Issues

We all have them. Our ancestors influence our daily lives and our relationships more than we might realize. Nature, nurture, and epigenetics are all worthy of exploration in therapy. I aim to help you see the value and beauty of knowing your family history and where you fit into it.

  • Existential Issues

Death. Freedom. Isolation. Meaning. The stuff nobody talks about enough. The elephants in the room. I consider it an honor to have conversations about these topics with people every day.

  • Enmeshed Families

Enmeshment describes family relationships that lack boundaries such that children are discouraged from becoming emotionally independent or separate from their parents. Therapy often helps to disentangle these patterns while helping us remain close with our loved ones.

“Therapy strengthens the parts of us that want to heal and weakens the parts of us that resist it.”
